This work by Alvin Yellowhorse exemplifies this artists talent in precision cutting of fine gemstones. Please view all photos and ask any questions you may have. At an early age Alvin was taught silversmithing by his father Frank Yellowhorse. He later mastered this trade and the techniques of precisely cutting small colorful stones and creating intricate designs inspired by his Anasazi ancestors. Channel inlay is done by assembling the cut stones together, grinding the stones flush and then polishing.
Alvin has achieved recognition being awarded numerous times for his work and featured with his brother in an article on turquoise in the 1999 edition of Smithsonian Magazine.
